Budel, Tomlinson and Griswold work the corpses of colonial pianos across two Australian sites, letting rot and weather do the composing. What emerges isn’t mournful salvage but something stranger: decayed instruments conversing across kilometers and seasons, their unpredictability the whole point. Field recordings knit the pieces together, and if there’s melody here it arrives accidentally, a plank settling or a string finally giving way.
