During a tragic hunting accident Kitamori is seriously hurt. His friend apologizes for getting him to come from Tokyo for hunting and rushes him to the hospital. On their way, he urges Kitamori to hold on and realizes that they left Kitamori’s faithful dog, Goro, behind. He begs the driver of the ambulance to stop and pick up the dog but the driver will not listen as the situation is critical. He encourages the dog to keep following them. Kitamori is flown to a hospital but he dies in the operating theatre. His friend is devastated and when he learns that the dog did not go back to his farm, he asks that the police and the fire brigade be called in. Goro starts making its way all the way back to Tokyo to find his owner.
