Low Fidelity Fest

Toxic Chicken treats the laptop like a toy box, pulling out pitched percussion, lo-fi loops and synth plinks that scatter across a bed of digital white noise. It’s simultaneously playful and meditative—vaporwave’s sense of drift without the irony, IDM’s textural fussiness stripped of pretense. Low Fidelity Fest doesn’t quite qualify as either ambient or party music, but finds actual comfort in that neither/nor space, which is rarer than it sounds.
