»Wasser Weck & Gin im Spiel. Ballett in 2 Akten« is the second video from the album »Geltungsbereich Universum«, released in celebration of Datashock’s 20th anniversary on Bureau B.

The 9 minute video features Berlin-based performance artist Paulette Penje. It’s shot by Keine Zeit Medien in 16mm on a Krasnogorsk 3 camera with Kodak Vision 500T and Vision 250D film stocks.

In the enthralling video, Paulette unplugs a plastic bottle’s spout, creating a stream of water. She catches it in her mouth, dribbles it back, and spits it against the backdrop, forming an irreverent Action Painting. In the second part of the video, she mesmerizes with her Lickpieces and a dance alongside a UFO in the “Geltungsbereich Universum”.

“When you paint a white wall white, you create a space, a concept, in which a body behaves. The focus is on the wall, and as every spot is touched, one still tries to reach the last corner, forgetting oneself. In the end, the white wall is white again.” (Paulette Penje)
