Frans Zwartjes, Netherlands, 1971

The film is part of the series ‘Home sweet home’, in which Zwartjes explores the house in The Hague he had just moved into at the time.

Zwartjes plays the main character and at the same time operates the camera, which is hand-held while he films himself. His wife and muse Trix plays the other role. The two characters move restlessly through the house.

The film was made using an extreme wide angle lens (a 5.7), which gives the image a strong sense of estrangement.
